JG Ingenieros has provided engineering and construction management services for the renovation of the new corporate headquarters of Simon, an international brand of electrical material, located in the technological district 22@ in Barcelona.
The project involves the comprehensive renovation of the old Simon factory in the Poblenou district of Barcelona, turning it into the new global corporate headquarters of the company. It is a 10,370 m² building spread over 6 floors located at 66 Calle Sancho de Ávila.
The building, called SWITCH, clearly referring to the switch – the symbol of the brand’s production – seeks environmental exemplarity. It has the LEED Platinum seal, the highest international certification in efficiency and sustainability , and the WELL certification, which evaluates a hundred parameters, focused on employee well-being. The building has an A energy rating, with 143 photovoltaic panels, and has been connected to Districlima, a centralized heat and cold production network in the 22@ district, which ensures minimum energy consumption. It is also worth noting that the headquarters houses an R&D&I laboratory.
